Voyager [Product]

Overview

Product Design and Direction for Voyager, the fastest-growing crypto app in the U.S. offering a platform for investors to trade over 100+ crypto assets and a USD Coin-powered Debit Mastercard®. Voyager believes that crypto assets are the future of finance and investing and aims to make crypto for all, simple and rewarding. 

Challenge

Trust, complexity and lack of education are the main barriers to entry for users entering the crypto space. We wanted to build a simple, easy to use user experience that was approachable and offered seamless, frictionless flows for onboarding, linking a bank account and trading.

Users needed to be able to view the live market prices for over 100+ crypto assets, their portfolio and access other core new features such as the debit card and the loyalty program.

Solution

The team had a very clear vision when approaching the user experience and interface for the mobile apps which was driven by simplicity and lack of ornamentation. 

Iconography, colors and other heavy visual elements are used very sparsely throughout the app. That was a conscious decision and continued to guide future feature roll outs and redesigns. A pared down canvas is more effective at guiding the user to their desired action with less clicks and less distractions. Surveys and focus group results unanimously confirm the simple and clear UX/UI is the main reason the users prefer Voyager over other competitors such as Coinbase or Robinhood. 

Loyalty
Program

The Voyager Loyalty Program rewards users with crypto-back on trades, boosted rewards, and more. Users stack Voyager’s native token, VGX – to unlock one of three reward tiers: Adventurer, Explorer or Navigator.

The Debit Card

The debit card offering allows users to seamlessly fund their Voyager account directly from USD to USDC, spend USDC with a swipe of their debit card and earn interest along the way.

Internal employees were the first test group to utilize the cards in the wild, and provide feedback. The second phase will be with a selected beta group of around 2000 participants including some of the Loyalty Program members. Full Launch will follow Beta Testing.
